At Peter & Co. all of our jewelry appraisals are performed by a Graduate Gemologist, in our American Gem Society (AGS) Accredited Gem Lab, to ensure that you get all of the information you need to properly assess the value of your items. Using appraisal criteria from the Gemological Institute of America we develop a detailed description of your diamond, gemstone or jewelry item. When you come to Peter & Co. Jewelers you also get photos of your item, both inside and out, to ensure maximum protection.
Appraisal Facts
Retail Replacement Value: As part of your jewelry appraisal we will assign a Retail Replacement Value. Based on current market values, this is the price to replace your item if it were to be lost, stolen or damaged. These values can only be assigned after researching national, regional and local jewelry markets.
Insurance Appraisals: If you need an appraisal for an insurance claim, rely on Peter & Co. Jewelers. We’ll help you determine the value of your item in order to ensure that you get a comparable replacement. For insurance appraisals the value assigned to your jewelry items are based on prices from average jewelry stores. Exceptions are made for signed jewelry from designers such as Tiffany, Cartier, Hearts On Fire, Tacori and others.
Appraisals Fee: The fee for an appraisal is $150 per piece and takes roughly 3-4 days depending on quantity, and availability. An Express/While You Wait Appraisal starts at $200 for the first piece and $100 for each additional piece and is done by appointment only.
